    Default 1.9 cdti 120 problems EGR/DMF/Glow Plugs

    I recently (5 months ago) bought a Vectra 1.9 cdti 120 (55 Plate) for £4.5k
I have had a few issues with it for the last 3 weeks so I took it to my garage.
Engine Management Light/Emissions light both come on occasionally.
Really poor performance in low revs, then in suddenly kicks in to life at 3000 revs.
    Knocking noise when idling.
    Fault Codes P2279, P0400, P0350
My Local Garage today suggested that it might not be worth paying to repair!
However he is going to fit a new EGR valve next week (he tried cleaning it, but still no better)
He says that the biggest expense will be the knocking noise which he has diagnosed as the Dual Mass Flywheel which he says is expensive and a lot of work to fit.

Can someone tell me (reassure me) that I am doing the right thing paying to repair it? and that I'll have a half decent car when I am finished?

    Richard.

tbh changing the egr valve on those isnt too bad, even if your half handy with the spanners. i changed mine, it's 55 plate 120, and didnt take long, also cleaned the boost sensor while the egr was off. DMF,, well sadly that comes to us all, mine is ok atm, coughs, omg what did i just say hahaa. Vauxhall will want about £1200 to £1400 to change the dmf and clutch, but most independants can do these for between £650 to £800. Then my friend you will have a great little car. i say, go for it.
