    Default Leaving the Vectra fold.

Sorry guys, but after the last 3 years of owning the GSi, the company I work for have finally decided that it's too old and too uneconomical for me to use for work and made me change my car :-(

The Vectra was always a cash allowance car for me where they gave me an allowance to pay for my own car rather than take a company car. This always suited me as I prefer the monthly payment which ultimately pays for my car over time, rather than take a brand new company car every 3 years which I would get taxed on and never own, this way I get to run pretty much whatever I want within reason..... but now the rules have finally caught up with cash allowance drivers and I have to be seen to be green...

    So I bought this:-

In fairness it's as quick as the vectra off the line with it being RWD and as a result doesn't give much wheelspin like the Vec used to. There are a few toys that I miss from the Vec, but I have new ones to take their place, such as bluetooth, ipod dock built into armrest, voice activation etc. I can also chip it to get almost as much power as the vec (currently 163bhp). So far I'm happy, although the missus doesn't like the cream interior

I would happily trade my Vec for that.

If it's any consolation, we've just been to Vx to checkout used Insignias and she loves them. So if she trades in the family wagon for a big hatch instead then you may not be rid of me so easily

I am currently driving a Mercedes C220 Sport Estate on a 10 plate whilst I wait for my CLK to arrive, and RWD is sooooooo much better than front wheel drive. Even in the wet, unless you drive like a knob, the rear end stays in check.

I now see what the press mean about RWD cars, and having the front wheels do what they are intended for......to steer and steer alone!
