    Here's how i'd do it.

Get some plastic primer from halfrauds, cheap as chips and does a good job. Mask off the bits you don't want to paint. You can take the grille off for spraying, it's real simple there's 8 cross head screws holding it on (nuts on an Irmy grille).

Pop down you local Vx dealer and get a spray paint pack in your cars body colour, you mention black so assume it's Black Sapphire? You get a tin of paint and a tin of laquer, should be less than a fiver!

Couple of coats each of primer, paint and then laquer should do the trick.

Plenty of choice there at halfrauds for matt black paint, I think they also sell matt finish laquer too, but don't quote me on that

I had mine done 6 months ago, they painted on top of the chrome and it is still good for new. Couple of stone chips but that's easy sorted. It cost me £10 to be colour coded in Bristol. (bargain).

that looks well sweet on your black gsi mate. £10 to have it done is a bargain no doubt!

undecided whether to get it colour coded (star silver) or go for the matt black finish now!!

Mine is star siver too, but I would imagine that black would look better, my personal opion though.

reckon black is the way to go - although the new vectra they had on top gear week before last had the 'V' colour coded blue and that looked good.
