    Default Interior Light Problem

Hi all, apologies if this is in the wrong section, but im having a bit of trouble with my dads Vectra, specifically the interior light.

I should point out that the car is a taxi and has been for over 4years and 175,000 miles, so the rear doors have been opened and closed many many times.

Anyway, the interior light is not coming on when either of the rear doors are opened, its the basic Energy model so just the basic interior light next to alarm sensors, no rear interior light, door courtesy lights etc.

The light still comes on when either of the front doors are opened, but not the rear doors, it started off where it was only the rear offside door which wouldnt switch the light on when opened until eventually both doors are now doing it.

also, not sure with the rear nearside door but definitely the rear offside door, the wee door opened icon in the rev counter display isnt coming up with the symbol of the car with door opened when the door is opened.

    any ideas guys?

Is there not a switch that gets depressed when the door is shut.? perhaps this has got stuck in the closed position on both sides. Worth a look.

The interior light switches for the vectra are inside the door locking mechanisms not like older vauxhalls where they had a physical switch on the pillars.

It will either be a faulty switch mechanism i the door lock..this can usually be reset, by stripping and rebuilding the lock / switch mechanism.

Or going back to good old basics, it could be a snapped wire in the loom between the door and the frame.
All that opening and closing will flex the conductors, until they eventually snap!!
