confused Help Needed Please With My Car's ID.

Hi all, I'm new here and have just bought my first Vec C.

I've had Vec B's for the past 8 years and finally decided to take the leap!
Had it now for one week and gotta say I'm so glad I did cos I'll never go back to a B again!!!

Now I'm having trouble with the cars ID - It was advertised and sold to me as a petrol 2.0 T Elegence.
The car was delivered and all was fine till I went through the paper work and found on the V5 slip that it was down as a SRI 2.0T Edition 100.

The chassis number checks out on the door piller and the windscreen with the old mot's.

Is there not supposed to be a vin plate in the engine bay area cos I can't find one!

I've put some pics below of my car so could you have a look and tell me what I need to change to get it back as it should be please.

I can't understand why anyone would want to de-sport a SRI Turbo - it just seems a mad thing to do and they seem to have spent a lot of time and money doing a good job.

I also can't find any reference to a 2.0 T Elegence being produced by VX.

Any help or advice will be gratfully received.

    Thanks,
    Wayne.

looking at the pics mate that is not an sri,
    it has the wrong

    front lights
    back lights
    indicators
    wheels
the back bumper should have a colour coordinated splitter and not a hidden exhaust
the front bumper is definatly the elegance bumper

personally i would check with the insurance see what they have it down as

I would personally say that yours is an Elegance, as your trim is nothing like an Edition 100,which has dark metallic grey paint colour for a start.

Here's a link to the Edition 100 spec

    https://www.gmproductforum.co.uk/articles/1164.pdf

as for the rest of the models at the time, here's the spec sheet for those

    https://www.gmproductforum.co.uk/articles/1162.pdf

Mikes post above seems to have flagged up another one though, which is odd?

Its not uncommon for cars to be registered wrongly with the DVLA. It can be changed to the correct model by getting a letter from the manufacturer stating the correct model, then contact your local DVLA office, they will want to inspect the car (just an identity check chassis number etc). then you will be issued with a rectified logbook.

My insurance said they couldn't find a 2.0T Elegence on the system but then when I told them it said SRI Edition 100 on the V5 they said 'we have that one'.

I paid £2250 for the car with 95k on it. Am I right in thinking an edition 100 would be more than that?

What's the cheapest way to HPI cheack on line?

I'm still a bit confused on this - it shouts ringer but all the numbers check out. The number on the floor in the drivers well is also correct with the rest.
Is there a vin plate in the engine bay on these cars?

Any chance it could be a ex-cop car or customs car maybe???

the police ones are usually 2.8T V6 and marked on the logbooks as Special!

Usually they're VXR's with an SRi trim IIRC.

They also usually have lots of holes and bits on the dash, whereas you're one looks intact.

Yours has the Elegance Interior TBH
