    Default Wipers and Brakes

Wipers on my 56 plate 1.8vvt have just packed it in apart from working on high speed, as they work ok on high speed I would assume it cant be the linkage, any advice would be welcome.

As for changing the brake pads is it only the front pads that have the wear indicator and if so can the existing indicator be used with the new pads or do I have to purchase new leads as well. I am going to change them myself and having never done the brake pads dont want to make an arse of it.

    cheers

There's a How2 for the wipers, it'll show you all you need to know.

As for the brakes, only the front brakes have it, and only on one side (N/S I think, not sure though). If the brake wear warning is showing on the dash, then the sensor can't be reused. If the warning isn't on yet, then in theory it can be reused but they're very brittle because of the heat from the brakes, so there's a good chance the sensor will break when you try to remove it from the brake pad.

Aha! I'm about to embark on brake disk and pad change as the disks have almost had it.

So for me, the new (non genuine) front pads I have just bought may not be any good and also, I may need more than just pads?

No you buy the sensor separatly and it will clip into the pad you've bought

In retrospect, and after a look through many of the "how2" guides on here, the brake assembly is nothign like what I'm used to doing, so it'll have to wait a few months till I can come up with the greenbacks to get the garage to plumb it all together!

    Thanks anyway!
