Default HELP! Car has come back from 40k mile service with no poke

    Hi all.

I took my 08 Veccy Design 2.2 Direct in for it's 40k mile service the other day. When I was driving it home it was very noticeable that is nowhere near as pokey as it was before I took it in. The pickup on it before at around 2500 revs was almost turboesque. A very noticeable burst, although it was pretty quick anyway without that. Now it is flat as hell. Takes what feels like forever to get to 60 from a standing start. It runs smoothly but it's poke has gone and I'm missing it. A LOT! As much as anything I feel I'm having to adapt my driving to suit

Any ideas what they may have done to cause this, and is there anything I can do to change it back? Anyone else ever experienced this?

I had it done at a garage I've been using for 15 years with no problems whatsoever

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Matt

If you have been using the garage for all that time I would take it back and explain the "fault" and request that they test drive it in order to correct what is wrong. It could be a simple forgoten connection or something along those lines. As a "loyal" customer they "should" treat your complaint with respect and not try to fob you off with some weak old excuse.

Hi Carpet. I would do all that, and there is no doubt he will try and sort it. That's not the problem. I'm just wondering what may have caused it. I'm pretty sure it can't be anything not connected. It runs prefectly ok, it's just lost it's edge.
Maybe it's just because it's been serviced and things have been tightened down etc? Maybe I'm talking rubbish.

If it was a new car and I hadn't driven it before I wouldn't notice anything wrong. It's just because I know the kick it had before that I notice it.

It's doing my head in a little I admit

I very much doubt this has anything to do with the service as all a service is is a filter and oil change.
Pretty hard to balls up and even if you did somehow find a way to **** it up it would not effect the performance as badly as you have described.
It sounds like a coincidence to me.
Take it back and explain the symptoms to them and ask them to run a diagnostics to find out what the problem is.
