    Default DTI Glowplug Change

    Chaps,

My 2.2DTi has in the last week struggled more and more to start, it just simply cranks over longer before firing, I'm hoping it NOT an air leak issue as the tank is full and I only ever park facing downhill (it has that issues uphill overnight).

So anyway, I'm gonna change the glowplugs first as they look easy to get too. When's the service interval change for glowplugs? I remember on the older Izusu/Vauxhall lumps it was 70,000miles, I've had this since 84k and it's now got 105k on it.

    Cheers
    Si

I very much doubt it's the glow plugs at this time of year... most likely leak off pipes/air leak or slight drop in compression

I've always replaced my own plugs... not dificult, just pre soak the old ones & take care putting the new ones in.

Yeah I didn't believe that the engine starts without using the glowplugs unless really cold (like 5deg C or lower), but it seems it does.

I'm gonna try the leak off pipes first - I bought the kit last year but it was so tight getting the old pipes off I gave up thinking I'd never get the new ones on! But this time I'm gonna go for it!!!

I'm still toying about changing the radiator myself as it's leaking - just looks like a pig of a job, I've asked on here about it but no one replied, so guessing know one's attempted it...

Diesels dont really need the glow plugs unless its really cold, they'll start on compression alone, the rad should be easy enough to change, just be careful with the ac rad and the bumper has to come off but apart from that there's nothing too tricky.
