    Default Love the veccy, BUT......

Had my veccy nearly 18 months now, done about 24k, its on 41k now, nice drive, Comfortable, quick, nice looking car, i think the only slightly thing better on my old mondeo was i think the steering and gear change was slightly slicker. i drove to London yesterday, 200 mile round trip, once i got on the m1 i set the cruise at 85, and it gobbled the miles up, no probs and still averaged 54mpg !!!!
No doubt about it, these veccys esp the 1.9cdti 150bhp, are motorway mile munchers, i was sat there in absolute comfort, nice tunes playing, i could have been sat in my lounge!! BUT and this is where the big but comes in, i am still toying with the idea of getting rid, before it all goes wrong. its a great car, but it feel, just like, 'transport from a to b'
When i bought the veccy, i actually wanted a focus, but when i saw the silly, silly, giveaway, price i paid for the veccy, i would have been silly not to have bought it!!
I am not knocking the car, it’s a great car, but there is something missing, or should I say boring..... i just feel a mazda 6 or even a skoda vrs Would be a little more exiting
. Is it just me or there other guys who have the same thoughts....

TBH , for some people, Vectra interiors look Bland. Thats ok with me cos i prefer less buttons and stuff that clutters the dash. The Vectra is a good car especially the 150 cdti lump. If driven within its design parameters, its absolutely solid. Have you consider getting a VX Insignia?

i know what your saying about the insignia, i love the shape, but not sure about the engines or build quality ?? very restricted view out the rear window, so unless it was a vxr, i think i would rather rather go for a mondeo titanium with sports kit

yep, cant believe it myself, normally ave about 47mpg when travelling to and from work, which is a roads doing about 60ish, but when its on the motorway with the taps open on a least 80 mile round trip, it will do over 50mpg quite easily, the car is only 2 and half years old, dont know if that makes any differance ?

you have hit the nail on the head for me. i have been thinking about all my old cars and love them or hate them they all had a bit of personality something that made me care one way or another. but the vectra is practical economical comfortable well built does everything you want it to. yet i couldn't care less about it i don't evan dislike it i am just ambivelent to its existence

There's nothing exciting about the way a Mazda6 drives (unless it's the MPS). It drives like a golf cart, just faster. I had one for a week as a hire car, couldn't wait to get back to my Signum.

I guess we (well, the older members) all have a car we remember fondly. Now, I like a car with some grunt, that corners fairly well, and my Vec will do that, in comfort, and give me 50mpg.
In these days of wind tunnel design computer powered cars, finding one with personality within a sensible price range that does all this? Let me know if you find one.
