    Default CDTI 150 is back from Vx Stealers (EGR related)

    Well well well.....

    I must say im impressed. Dad's CDTI 150 went in for the flat spot problem, and has come out like a new car.

    The brand new EGR Valve that I had was well and truly .

    The new EGR Valve was fitted out of the part's warranty and the car feels like new. Starts to pull from approx 1.4k rpm and pulls well right through the gear range.

    I even tried a little test on it, cruised at 30mph in 3rd and then had the stop watch ready and time how long it took to climb to 40mph when the pedal was floored, and it did it in a VERY respectable 2.5'ish sec's (I got this test from vvoc when someone was trying to tune their B).

    Before the EGR Valve was replaced, it would take easily 5-6 sec's as the rev range would be so low it would do anything.

    Anyway, happy day's, my dad's pleased as its finally done.

    My next question for you guy's is how can I prevent it getting screwed again.

    Shall I:

    • Leave it as it now;
    • Put the Fiat Partial Blanking gaskets back on?

    please with this.

    I dont want to be in the same situation again as the performance is diabolical with a knackered EGR Valve and I want this to stay the way it is.

    Thanks in advance.

    You have to give it a good blast to keep it coke free, just occasionaly when its being driven and the engine is nice and warm take it right through the rev range in say 2nd and 3rd to blast any build up away.

    Fiat gaskets would do the trick. I think that Fiat realised too much exhaust gas was going through the valve, long before VX have.

    Fiat gaskets fitted this morning. No light and no change in performance.
    Hopefully this will prevent it from getting caked up.
