Question Whats the best / easiest photoshop software?

    Hi everyone

I'm thinking of doing a few mods and general photoshop tutorials

Do anyone of you have recommendations for software to use?
    e.g paint pro shop x2?

I quite like the idea of making the car look like its in a complete new location with different lighting styles.

Gimp is free and ok but not quite as good as photoshop but its at least a good one to try with without having to spend loads of money on photoshop unless you get it another way

Paint.Net is free too, and a natural successor to Paint. I've used it for years and it comes with a stack of add-ons too.

I use adobe after effects, mainly because I do video editing, but it has a fantastic range of effects available and is suitable for pictures too. Only problem is it can get very compex and expensive for some of the plugins

I've been using Paint Shop Pro since it first came out. I have X2 at the moment. I find it very good but not the most user-friendly and, whilst some of the easy to use good features have inexplicably dissapeared over recent versions (I went straight from 7 to X2), there are some really good digital photo controls/effects etc. It's a lot cheaper than full Photoshop, which also isn't that user-friendly, though there are good free on-line tutorials for both. Depends on your budget and requirements.

    Adobe PhotoShop
Methinks he was using the term 'Photoshop' generically.

As already posted above, give Gimp a go as it's free and nothing to lose. In terms of ones that cost a little bit of money, as well as PaintShop Pro another one to consider is Photoshop Elements. Has a number of the features of Photoshop as well as more user-friendly wizards/features and you can download a 30 day trial from Adobe.

Don't even consider buying Photoshop unless you're using that type of application professionally. It's simply waaaay unnecessary as you'll never use half the features and it's got a serious price tag!

I've progressively upgraded my versions of Photoshop through the years (I'm a pro photographer) and I'm now on CS5 Extended which is simply packed with some amazing features, which I'll use. I opted for the Extended version this time as with my DSLR shooting full HD I'm exploring the possibilities of adding video elements to my services and this version lets me open up and tweak video files in it - with full editing being done in Adobe Premiere. Also, the 3D features let me do things like 360 degree spherical/cylindrical panoramics.

    I digress!
