Default 1 year old car with 3 owners documented, is this unusual????

just found out the car im looking at has had three owners since may 2009, does this sound dodgey??
    Astra VXR

just wondering if theres something wrong with it now and people have just palmed it off just to get shut.
If i was to ring vauxhall would they be able to tell me what history it has had in terms of warranty work??

Dont want to lash out if theres gonna be an expensive bill coming my way,
dont really trust Warranty's as it always turns out "it isnt covered on the warranty"

    Help please

are u buying it from a vx dealer? get one of those 30point inspections by RAC. ask vx for an explanation as to why the number of owners. it could be legitimate, but better to be safe than sorry.

could be a problem motor - or a higher running cost vehicle that the previous 3 owners could not afford to keep in the econocmic climate

i would steer clear, unless it's dirt cheap, mechanically sound and you intend to keep it for 5+ years.
if you decide to sell in a year, it'll be on it's 5th owner within 12 months and that will seriously affect the value of it.

you'd have to wonder why 3 owners, ....

did private owner1 trade it in to a dealers(owner2) who then sold it to a private indiv/another dealer(owner3?

but that still makes it 2 actual users in 12months

I wouldnt purchase if it was me, to be honest

It would be very useful to get sight of as many of the owners as possible, first one is likely to be a dealer on a pre-reg, then if the others could be contacted as I have done it would give peace of mind or expose the real reason of sale at least.

A friend of mine bought an Astra VXR from a Vauxhall Dealer had it 3 weeks couldn't afford the extra petrol money and traded it back into the Dealers but by this time he had been registered as an owner. I'd question it but sometimes it just that people cant afford them. There is plenty about to choose from thou'

Highly likely, so many people underestimate the running costs of these cars.

Also, when I bought my Vectra VXR two and a half years ago with 2000 miles on the clock it already had two owners registered. So I'm the 3rd !!

It was originally a Vauxhall Demo car, another guy came to buy it, paid up front cash and all the paperwork was done ready for collection.

So the story goes, in between payment and collection this chaps son died in a motorcycle accident and he never collected the car... after a few attempts to contact this chap, he asked for the car to be put back up for sale as he no longer wanted it... never drove it.

On the log book it shows this guy on the paperwork for 1 month, thats it

Never had a problem with the car since... drives lovely

If it's from a dealer they can tell you what warranty work has been done in the VX dealer network.

Could be running costs, or genuine reason for sale. I wouldn't feel confident myself about buying it unless I knew it was kosher.

apparently dealers only know the history of the vehicle if its been in there garage, quite annoying as i have rung many dealers today and they all say the same.
