    Default Signum 3.0 V6 CDTI

    Having sold the Vectra (SXI cdti 150) and the wife's Corsa I am think of buying the above. Anything I need to be aware of having had most but not of all of the problems associated with the Vectra?

    Vehicle : Opel Signum

    Engine : 3.0 CDTI

    Year : 12/03

    Test drive it and check for juddering which could either mean SCV failure, clogged fuel filter, or the worst, injectors. Check the tires and CV-joints if possible which can also cause judders and shudders particularly when going up hill or when accelerating through a corner.

    Excessive black smoke indicates that the EGR is on its was out but it should still last you a fair bit longer than a 1.9 if you give it the beans once in a while. Good luck

    Thank you. Anyone tell me if it's cam belt or chain and what's involved in changing it?

    Cambelt, 100k or 10 year intervals although consider it at 60k imo.

    It involves taking bits off, throwing some bits away and replacing some bits with new
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Cambelt is an easier job on the 3.0 than the 1.9 - got mine done last year for a couple hundred notes.

    Thats the best thing for a 1.9, Sell it
    As for the 3.0 youll love it, but take the advise given here as they can be a bit costly if they go wrong...

    Saab say the cambelt on the 6DE1 engine is good for about 150.000miles I don't see the point in replacing it at 60k

    If the 3.0 V6 CDTI had a VX engine in it, then I would have halved the cambelt interval to about 50K / 60K miles

    I do agree that 100K miles is a bit long
    Equally, I am dumping the 30K mile service interval
    Ironically, my car has never reached the 30K miles service interval, always getting to about 15K miles then the service interval drops dramatically
    However, I have already passed that since the last service and is still "on schedule" for a 30K miles service
    Irrespective, I am still booking the car in at 20K mile service interval

    The first cambelt change was carried out slightly early at 90K miles
    I am therfore going for cambelt changes at 80K miles, or every fourth service

    Finally, I've been getting quotes for next service (oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, and fuel filter)
    blackcircles = £295 (after discount)
    local mechanic = £260
    VX = £160 (after discount)

    when you say juddering, is that as you are cruising along it might start to judder, or under accel etc?

    Might be looking at a V6 cdti at the weekend
    What is the real world fuel economy like from one?

    If they do, they normally judder under light acceleration

    My first 3.0 had an average of 45mpg in the 20k I've done with it. Never drove quick, because it had about 170k
    My current 3.0 has an average of 39mpg So far I've had the car for 3 months and 6k miles, 3k of which were done in Germany Never had under 35mpg even with constant ragging on the Autobahn at 100+mph
