Default One for Sparky's - Light Switches

Whats the correct name or part etc for the pic below... (rear says type 200)

Been to B&Q and various places and cant find one the same... Left is a blanking switch but i'm wanting to fit another switch in there, or just replace the full switch unit if possible?!?

The one on the right does the security light for the garden, i want the left to run some exterior lights to light up the decking at night... cables already run straight outside from behind, i'm guessing i can piggy back from the fuse and just fit a switch on the left or am i way off

    Any sugestions

From the look of this this is manufactured by MK so what your after is a 1 gang light switch module that will replace the blanking plate. As long as there is a neutral in the centre switch then yes you could piggy back from this, but make sure you go from the outgoing side. Hope this helps

I've not come across one of these as yet, I've only seen 1 gang fused switches. You should be able to spur off of the incoming live etc to power the other lights, as for the switch, you may need to get a single fused spur if you can't get a replacement for the double, and fit it next to the existing one. Also, I believe the whole circuit has to be rcd protected (from your main fusebox / consumer unit) or if not then from a seperate rcd unit. This is to protect you from electric shock, and being an outside installation you will have to protect yourself. If you're not sure, then get an electrician in, as you don't want to get a shock

I think it used to be a double outlet converted to a switch... Not sure why only fit one tho...

Found this but cant find a white one

can the whole face be replaced instead, i'm guessing it'll still need to be fused down tho for the lights?

tell a lie: found theses... http://www.twenga.co.uk/dir-Garden-D...t-switch-11829

1 way, 2 way, intermediate?!?! might have to get someone in...

If it's just for switching the lights on/off then 1 way would be fine. Not sure if this will fit your existing plate or not

The screw fix direct ones look the same as whats in. i'll get one and have a look...

Also single pole/double pole? think i'll have to dig out the serial number on the other switch.

    Cheers guys

All you require is a 1 gang switch module, possibly MK looking at the contour of the frontplate. We install lots of MK and are readily available at good electrical wholesalers. Take the picture in and show them at the wholesalers, they`ll point you in the right direction.

Cheers, just got one off ebay ... does the below pic look right then, piggy back from the fused live and a neutral from one of the 2 original feeds?

Is there a reason who ever fitted the original has put both live and neutral feeds together (from the original outlets), or is it just so they dont have to be lose and capped? making it a little neater...

In the central switch, the 2 larger cables are your feed in and out and then the smaller cable then feeds your right hand side switch. Its hard to see where the 2 larger neutrals go but you near enough just want to mimic this and the left hand side. The LIGHT switch should not switch the neutral just the live only.

I can confirm these are definitely MK after looking behind the modules. hope thats what you ordered from eBay.
