Default Bought 10 month old Insignia doesn't start & dealer been dishonest

Hi - I have been recommended here after using Money forum, who were under the impression I have made this situation up but I swear it is true. I am looking for advise, here are the two posts I put up explaining the situation:

    Hi,

Today I collected a Vauxhall Insignia, from an authorised dealer at only 10 months old and 8,300 miles on the clock.

I drove the vehicle from the dealership, to my mothers, approx 8 miles and the car wouldn't start from then (kicking over). I called the dealer and they came out and it started without any problems. Typical!

Furthermore, the car was used a little more before having the same problem. Being out of hours, no-one from Vauxhall was able to take a call from me. I decided to call the AA - who after plugging various bits in suggested it was a lack of fuel pressure.

Since I have had 2 failed starts within 4 hours of owning the car, I find this unacceptable.

Moreover, when purchasing the vehicle at £15,000 I added the GAP insurance at £399.99 and was told the floor matts etc would be free. Also, I declinced the option to have paint protection on the car. Therefore the vehicle should have been £15,399.99 BUT I was billed for the 3 extras which worked out at about £15,890!

As they had over charged me, they said I would be given; parking sensors (rear) and 1 year warranty to compensate. I agreed.

Futhermore, I was told the vehicle was owned by Vauxhall and they were the only owner, but due to a mistake on their part (breaking the data protection act) they left the details of the former owner in the glove box! I called the previous owner after my problem, who confirmed that he had no issues and parking sensors were already fitted!!!!

It gets worse, after checking the invoice over they have played with figures and billed me for the full price of the extended warranty (not reduced price as promised) and matts (which should have been free) to make sure that the invoice total didn't include the parking sensors to cover themselves and meet the price they had billed for.

Obviously I am very angry, but love this car, can anyone offer any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Hi,

This is a genuine post. I am the man purchasing, I am using my partners account since she recommended me on this site for advice. As for my dad, me and him don't see eye to eye which is part of the problem.

Firstly, I expected a Vauxhall garage to be honest, which clearly it wasn't! It is not my fault that a main dealer lied and I choose to take their word on what was said rather than assume everyone is giving me bull.

Anyway, I went back to the dealer today to discuss the issue at hand (after being told I would be recovered at 0930-1030 I was recovered at almost 1300!!). Basically I took the hooky invoice and asked them about the sensors and if that was why I had to wait for the car to be ready, a total of 4 days, they kept looking at each other (manager & guy who sold me the car) saying 'the sensors are on the car'. After going into detail about the talks we had prior to accepting the car, the manager changed the invoice to match the information given - at which point I had him by the balls. Furthermore, I got him to say he had the car from 500 miles and it was always a Vauxhall owned car. Whilst doing this I text the previous owner who confirmed he had done 5,000 miles and it was put in on the log book (why it was only flashed to me).

After recieving a copy of the amended invoice, I then produced the paperwork showing that the garage had been lying and asked what he was going to do about it? He (manager) instantly went red, and his college was silent. After much deliberation we were able confirm that the garage were not aware of the full history and/or did find out, which I replied with 'then the information given shouldn't have been said and it was misleading and untrue'. However the manager tried to dress it up he couldn't. Also in relation to the parking sensors, he confirmed that I was entitled to a refund (without checking if what I said was true or looking at any paperwork) he claimed that he requested the work to be done. Moreover, I was able to challenge this and explain that he had apparently driven the car so didn't the beeps when parking give it away......

I have a Corsa now untill Tuesday when they open and access the fault. The AA blamed an injector/fuel pressue whatever that means but could not find where the fault was specifically - if that makes sense?

I am very disappointed that I ask for advise on here and am insulted on this issue. I put my trust in this dealer because it wasn't a back street car dealer but a registered Vauxhall dealer and was assured by friends/family that buying from a main dealer was the best way. I would be able to supply the car details, garage details and persons involved but this could make things difficult?

I am owed £198 plus interest (as I have part of the car on finance) but also the interest of the car from 25/05/2010 - 01/06/2010 as I was waiting for the car from 25th-29th whilst the 'parking sensors' were fitted and while it is waiting to be seen.

They have a main office relatively local (20mins away) should I call/write/visit them and explain the whole situation and if so will this make things more difficult when getting the car back etc. Also what should I try and get out of the garage given the above as way of compensation. I am not too bothered as to whether the extra money is refunded or put towards another gadget and if so what?

Personally? Ask for all your money back and ditch the car on them. And never go there again...

The best thing you can do, is take all your evidence to the Citezens Advice Bureau.

    Hi,

The difficulty is I have £5k paid and the rest on finance. Also the car has a load of extras on it (its an Exclusive with Sat Nav, parking sensors, I think one of the extra packs with tunnel light sensors of whatever) so I doubt I will get a similar.

The car cost £15,000 and had done 8,331 miles. I spoke to the previous owner who said the car was perfect and never missed a beat (drove 5k in it). To be honest I was never a fan of vauxhall but this car is perfect. Taking the car back, having little/no credit history, would mean another credit check and possibly coming back as declined from everywhere (Santander approved me).

    Thanks

The garage is Archie Moss Coalville. I am really impressed with the response on here! The money forum said I made the whole thing up! Anyway the reg is HK09 BNB also, amazed at how fast and nice it was to drive! Looks the part too, but I don't want to be recovered back every other week....
