    Default Cdti cat removal how hard

    Hi all I have a cdti estae with a dpf fitted does my car also have a cat I think I can see it bolted onto the bottom on the turbo

    Question is how hard is it to take off the cat so I can smash te insides out then re fit the cat

    is it easy looks like a pig will I have to remove front number etc etc or can I remove it from below the engine

    Hi there I have looked in the search and can see posts about removing it g
    and pros and cons but nothing to actually tell me how to remove it and tools needed and what sort of accsess I need to make to get to it

    Any help would be much appreciated also has any one on here done I diy decat and knocked the insides out I did this on my mondeo I had and noticed more power and more mpg and it flew through the soot test on mot

    bashing the inside of the cat out will reduce back pressure & could lose a bit of torque, you're better off removing the cat altogether & have some tubing welded in it's place

    My CDTi has a Cat after the flexi in the downpipe which the clamps to the middle section of the exhaust, so to decat this it would need cutting after the flexi and a piece of replacement pipe fiiting. I'm not sure where the DPF is in relation to the CAT, before or after. I've also heard some mention of pre-cats in the downpipe....but down know if they are on Vectra.
