Default Connecting Vauxhall Roof Mounted DVD to CID

Just toying around with the idea of connecting my Vauxhall roof mounted DVD player to the front CID via the use of a OCIDVi interface to allow the passenger to watch the same, I only need to transfer the picture no sound.

On the power connector there are four connections, 2 are used to provide voltage and a ground however the other two are currently unused. I think the unused connections would normally charge the battery if fitted and hence would require to be disconnected within the DVD player and then jumper wires run internally from the video connection on the in/out port to these two connections. Now for the big question do you think I am mad or is it a true possibility?

I wouldn't reuse the 2 spare wires as you are carrying video signals and ideally you should use a screened cable or you could end up with a nasty snowy pic. You can get these premade but depends on the connector at the dvd end, most of the ones I've seen use a 3.5mm jack for the video out.

I have the 3.5mm jack cable, only issue is you can't get to the connector once it is slotted into the holder. Hence the idea of using the two spare connections seemed ideal

Taking your idea a bit further would be to do as you suggest , modify the internal wiring to get the video to the spare pins using some screened cable, then on the other side of the connector do the same again and run the screened cable to the HU. Keeping the unscreened bits as small as possible.

Going to have a look at this next time I'm off then. My only concern is a snowy picture caused by the connection type on the back of the player. If I can get it to work i'll order the oCIDvi interface if I can find one
