Default MPG on a 3.0 cdti

can anyone help and let me know what sort of mpg you get from a 3.0 v6 cdti ? im looking at changing to an auto cdti estate, i have a 1.9cdti manual at the moment which is very eco so am a little worried it will be a thirsty car!

    any help and advice appreciated!

1.9 isn't much better in an auto either, my mate runs one, it's like any automatic you will lose mpg.

i used to run an auto 2.2 vec, the consumption is always less on an auto but surely the 1.9 auto will be quite a bit better than the 3.0, i think ill scrap that idea! i use my car for work alot so the 1.9 is quite a good earner

I tried really hard but couldn't get my MPG above 37 in my V6 so I gave up after 80 miles and now heading back towards my first couple of tanks figure at 26-27 but then I suppose I do like the accelerator and that is either in lots of stop start traffic or going quite fast on the Motorways.

what is the mpg on a 2.2 dti?
I used to get around 35ish in general stop start traffic but before I moved to Manchester and did a hell of a lot of motorway driving (80 miles a day just to work and back from Preston) I would average between 40 and 50. On a few long runs (Manchester -> Lake District, Preston -> Stratford etc) on fairly clear motorways cruising at speeds of 70 and below I got in excess (just but even so!) of 60mpg.

Now it costs me a small fortune in comparison to run my car but the smile is worth it

    HTH

Over 43K miles in a Signum 3.0 CDTI Auto average is 35.5 on the computer. It will do over 40mpg on motorway runs. Manually checking brim to brim shows the computer to be accurate. I do not hang around usually travelling at 75 on the motorway so I am pleased to get this mpg out of a heavy car.

Ian thats no good those figures, everyday use in a 3.0 dti will produce a 30 mpg overall, and thats if the car sees a clear road for 70% of it, lovely engine it is but it is what it is a slurper for the more refined motorist.
