Default CDC40 swap for CDC30 in a different car

Selling my vectra next week with a CDC40 radio and buying a newer vectra next week with a CDC30 radio, want to keep the CDC40 radio so want a step-by-step guide in un-installing it and re-installing it into the newer vectra. How do I go about? What codes do i need? Where do i get them? etc. etc. not a technical person so basic words/no fancy thrases or nicknames for parts please.

Been told by someone who says they 'know about de-coding' that once a Stereo is married to the car you cannot take it out and marry it to another, is this true? I need to get this done ASAP before I give my car back, thanks.

+ Ive been further told that if I did put the CDC40 into the new car it will work but the display wont (ie. if a bulb goes it will not tell you on the display etc.)? True?

So long as you have the car pass you will be able to transfer the radio to the new car. To make all the functions work properly it will be a visit to the dealer to get them to use "Tech 2" to programme the radio to the car.

It's not exactly a straight forward swap if the CDC40 has DAB as you'll need to swap the aerial (and probably wiring) and all the electronics (DAB unit, which is behind the glove box, radio and screen), plus you will probably need to add some wires to the loom between the radio and screen in the new car.

If it just a CDC40 and GID screen, then you need to transfer both of these to the new car...You could just transfer without Tech 2, as the screen and head-unit are paired to each other.
But is better to do it properly and tech 2 divorce from old car, and tech 2 pair into new car.
The main effect of fitting a screen and headunit from a different car without tech 2, is that it is quite common for the speakers to crackle and pop for the first 5 minutes after turning off.

As said above, if your new car has the TID (with clock buttons on the bezel), then you may need to add an extra red and an extra brown wires.
or just link pin 1 to 2, then pin 3 to 5

IF YOU ARE FITTING A DAB UNIT..

    You will need : -
    1) The link loom between DAB box and the head unit
    2) Link aerial lead between DAB box and head unit
    3) Correct aerial base and whip for DAB system
    4) Special 3 way aerial lead(s) between head-unit and DAB Box and the aerial base

Also note that all 3 parts need to be divorced from old car, and paired to the new car.

You will need the audio pass numbers for both cars (on a red and white credit card sized piece of card, usually in the front of the user manual wallet)
It should have something on it saying the radio model, and the security number, such as...

CD30mp3 / 1234 where 1234 is the security number...of course both of yours will be different.

If you don't have these, then they will be approx £15 each from your Vauxhall dealer.
