Default Silly Question regarding EDS Maps...

I plan to totally blank my EGR valve - I know this will bring up EML/Emmisions light - if I then got the 190 (no EGR) map from EDS, would this put the light out....???

Be careful when fully blanking or turning off the EGR valve as the resultant increase in exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) have been known to cause turbo failure.

One of the purposes of the EGR system (other than to reduce emissions) is to lower combustion temperatures when the car is being driven at part throttle (cruise mode). The exhaust gases mix with the incoming fuel and partially 'smother' the combustion process. If this is not happening, then combustion takes place at normal high temperatures and hotter exhaust gas is then directed towards the turbo.

I have heard of this as well.

Because I've de-Catted it would this reduce the temperatures near the turbo anyway?

Are you saying it is not wise to disable the egr? I have a EDS map with egr disabled, so curious as to what you are saying. I am also gonna decat with duplex exhaust. Having only mapped the other day I did notice it runs a little hotter.

You can have the 190 or 200 with the EGR disabled as that is the options I have but I do have the IPF hardware for the remap

Can't win with the EGR by the sound of it, soot up your engine or run a liitle hotter....be nice to find out the facts proper. Might contact EDS and see what thee take on it is.

More scare-mongering.... EGR by-passing on BMW's, Range Rovers, Fords has shown no terminal failures of engines/components due to EGR function being disabled, but many pluses have been proven - going off what you say then, whats cheaper, a new turbo or new inlet manifold arrangment
