I read on here that the followers (i think it is) are designed to break if the belt snaps,so as not to bend the valves, but i don't know how much it is to repair though.

There are loads of people on here who say they would chase the belt supplier for the costs as it had snapped far too early
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I should have said i read it was on the 1.9 cdti engines,as that's what engine the op was referring to.

Yes thats what my engine is. Went it went back to VX they had to strip the head off to find the damage that was done. If I remember correctly they said from the start it would need a new engine as it was unlikely to have survived the cambelt going.

Hi there I also had a timing belt snap due to the usual water pump seizure, my car broke 10 of the rocker arms but did not bend any of the valves. If i remember correctly the arms are approx £5 each from vauxhall.

Hi chucky121, Just managed to dig out my reciept for the rocker arms. I was charged 4.87 each Plus vat, the part no is v0093197114. This was a trade price and purchased on 04/02/2010 but I still think £14 is on the expensive side.
