    Question can someone help please

    hiya,
just did the airbox mod on my 1.8 sri. it sounds like an induction kit or as if i just took everything off to the throttle body or something. by that i mean its a bit louder and it makes that loud sucky noise. the thing im worried bout is that i didnt know that happens so is it meant to happen? only way could be bad news is if its NOT meant to cause i do like it just makein sure its normal.
    thanks guys,

Did mine on my 2.2 and made a slight difference in the sound but not agreat deal to be honest, but maybe the 1.8 is a slightly different setup, if you're worried it might be worth double checking that you've put the airbox back together properly including the air intake pipe and filter in case it's leaking as it were, failing that if there's no difference in it's performance then put the trumpet back in.

Incidently it is the one in the airbox itself i.e below the filter that you removed wasn't it and not in the lid?

both. did the clipy one a while ago and someone whos name i forgot said should try the top too. so hacksawed it. everything is attached properly tho and can feel a tiny tiny bit of air passing my hand at the very front intake, you know the one behind the grill, suggests to me that it means the airflow is in the correct place rather than leaking in. so hopefully is filterd well enough, are you not meant to remove the one on the lid??

The horn creates a venturi effect and acts to suck the air accelerating it and making it denser as it enters the induction phase, it's not going to kill the engine or anything from my understanding but does result in the noise you have described and a slight loss of power but unless you are on a rolling road or a track day most folks wouldn't notice any difference.

Not so sure it's a good idea to have removed the one in lid as I thought this one had a mesh in it to protect the Maf sensor unless of course you still have the mesh there if you hacksawed just up to it.
