power steering prob
power steering failed on my vectra 1.9 56 plate towed to vaux dealers was quoted £870.00 supply and fit managed to get one on line for £340.00 dealer fitted it for £217.00 still having probs my mechanic who is very good has it in his workshops is trying to sort it out anybody else had same problem, steering is a bit heavy and has failed on 3 occasions new pump only fitted 3 weeks ago gen gm part

just picked my car up mechanic gave up on it as it was working ok at the time suggest i go back to vaux for another diagnostic booked in for wednesday more money !!!!
vaux say they,ve re programmed the e c u gonna give it a long test drive tomorrow if it doesnt cure it may need new ecu for pump sounds expensive i think they should have done this when they fitted new pump ?????
got my car back by the way it,s 1.9cdti auto done 64000 miles i,ve had for over 2 yrs bought with 14000 miles on clock i use it for taxi work ( mini cab )anyway vaux re programed the e c u and said if that dont work it,s the e c u in the new pump at fault drove it for about 3 hrs went again no power steering managed to get it back to vaux as a favour their gonna check it again but think the pumps a bad one but gonna double check everything doin my head in lost loads of money may have been better to have let them supply and fit in first place for £870 00 thought i was saving money but ive lost loads by not working and not sorted yet....
the latest ...vaux say its definatly the pump at fault gonna change on warrenty as its a genuine vaux pump fingers crossed watch this space ???

vaux have fitted new pump they gave it a test drive bad news it,s playing up tech 2 shows same fault theve had it all day cant get to the bottom of it watch this space ...
service manager contacted vaux technical who told him to fit another new pump he doesnt want to do this, looking for another solution, he thinks it unlikely 2 pumps could be faulty it makes me question whether the original was faulty, anybody else had same problem ?? any idea,s ?? doin my head in ...
Well if its not the pump, all it can be is the rack really.
hi dave my mechanic ruled out steering rack i thought same as you he checked it out said i,ll change if you want but nothing wrong with it
