About the same, direct has high pressure pump faults, the non direct can have timing chain lube issues.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Default Direct has more power

The Direct injection engine Z22YH produces more power than the Z22SE -------

    Z22YH Direct 155bhp -- 04 on.
    Z22SE up to 04 - 147bhp

The Direct model Vectra does a 0-60mph in 8.5 sec's, whilst the Z22SE takes 9.5 to 60 mph, also the Direct makes more torque so it pulls better through the range.

Also emission wise the Direct is cheaper to tax as it's a lower band than the Z22SE ---- the direct is a far better engine and have run my sri Vectra for the past five years with no problems.

By far the Direct is the most unreliable of the 2 though, and seat of pants there not much difference in the 2. When all singing and dancing yes the direct is better but not by much. There essentially the same engine, only the head, fueling and inlet manifold is different.
