    Default video editing

    Chaps,

Can anyone recommend me some video editing software? I'm getting an HD camcorder for my birthday ahead of the arrival of our wee boy and would like to be able to edit what i record. I don't want to break the bank either.

Currently looking at Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD
    http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiohd

Anyone tried this or recommend something similar they have used?

    Cheers

I used Sony Vegas for editing a few HD videos taken on a camcorder.

It has an awesome range of features and makes making a profesional looking end result very easy, there is quite a steep learning curve but there are plenty of wizards and tutorials to help you through it!!

I downloaded the 90 day trial which allows you to work out if its what you want!

Best advice is download a few trials and see which you like best!

    Hi,
It depends what sort of effects you are after, if its basic stuff, cutting out parts, adding audio, text, etc. you will probably get something in the box that does it all.

A quick walk around PC World might show you some software titles for £20-£40, sometimes can catch bargains there, esp. with the Bank Holiday coming up

Also, if you're running Windows, there is a software included with XP called Windows Movie Maker (not sure about Vista), it doesn't come with Windows7, but you can download it from Microsoft seperately.

Not sure if you need different software to edit HD than you would you with standard video, so best to check before you buy
