Annoying noise

When I go to the car and unlock it there is a ticking noise,which lasts for about 15 - 20 seconds then disappears.If I leave the car unlocked and open a door a bit later,2 minutes or 20 minutes,it starts it again until the car is running .The noise seems to come from around the top of the dash/firewall area if that helps.Its driving me nuts can anyone identify what the cause might be and then the remedy? Pretty please I dont want to take my metric sledgehammer set to it

Its the air recurculation flap behind glove box its shuts when you lock it, Basically you need a new motor as its slipping..
