    Default Steering wheel control fault

Hi all. I have a 2001 vectra and yesterday the control button on the steering wheel that moves the cd track forward stopped working. It worked a couple of times this morning but nothing now. All the others work fine and the actual button action is working fine just dont move song forward. Any ideas please ?

On the back of the steering wheel is a screw, one on each side, one for each side of the wheel. undo the appropriate one and then just pull out the steering control, be careful of the small plug on the back of the controller. Dont pull too hard as the cable is not that long... HTH

    It's a 2001 vectra b steering wheel,not a c

Before you start to remove these screws behind the steering wheel, you should first disconnect the car's battery terminals.

You will need to undo both screws behind the steering wheel to remove the airbag, you will have to lift the plastic yellow locking tab up and then pull the plug out,and this will release the airbag from the steering wheel, and then you can get to the control buttons to remove them.
The torx screw you have already undone won't come out all the way and fall out.
If you turn on the ignition for any reason, with the airbag disconnected, the eml will stay on,until you get it taken off.

I do have a few sets of 3 spoke steering wheels controls here for the vectra B,but i'm thinking that your steering wheel might be a 4 spoke.

Hi. Thanks for the info. Yes it is a 4 spoke. Is it major job or is simpler than it sounds.

Its fairly simple, take off the negative terminal of the battery,to be on the safe side,go and have a cuppa, come back out and undo the 2 torx bolts behind the steering wheel, holding the airbag in place, lift the airbag out a little bit,so as not to pull on the cable, you will then see a yellow plug going into the airbag, lift out the locking tab first, and you can then pull the plug out from the airbag, then you will see the steering wheel controls held in place either side of the steering wheel, with 2 more smaller torxs screws on each one,and they come as a pair,so just disconnect them from the other plug inside the steering wheel, the 4 spoke steering wheel controls are smaller than the 3 spoke steering wheel controls,so the won't fit,you will need to get 4 spoke steering wheel controls.
