    Default Glasgow speed trap warning

Thought i'd just give anyone who travels along the M8 on a regular basis a quick warning.

theres an unmarked BMW 535d in black on a 59 plate now doing constant speed patrols along the stretch from george square area to where it hits 60 mph on the signs

there basically, furthest i've seen it is where the 2 big gas drums are (weegies will know where im talking about)

seen a corsa and a RR-sport pulled over in the last couple of days, so, just be careful folks! i know i cant be doing with 3 points!

    That's a common tramping area
There are also a grey and a plain silver car typically covers all the areas between Glasgow Airport, Nitshill (M77), Stepps (M80), and Baillieston (A8/M8)

That's the same silver car I was stopped by for going too slowly; 30mph in a 30mph zone on the M8
I gave the officer a right ear full (and yes it was his right ear)
The car is not equipped with MDT nor ANPR, although it is fitted with VASCAR the officers are not permitted to use it

Last night (between 21:00 and 23:30) three marked cars were patrolling between Cathedral (J14) and Cumbernauld Road (J16)
This is also a well known tramping around this time at this location
However, I reported one of these cars for showing blue lights on the way back to the rendevous point (the burger van)

Equally, when you perform a vehicle check on any of these three cars nothing comes up
This therefore makes me suspect they are carrying generic numberplates

Some parts of Scotland are notorious, used to be really bad around Gretna, out towards Dumfries, some lovely straight roads, nothing about, and a copper sat about halfway keeping everyone on their toes lol

Got pulled a few years ago, on way to a wedding in Port Glasgow, got wife and young son in car, was doing 71mph and got pulled, I reckon copper was bored, about 10 at night, pulled me over, told me I was doing 71mph but would let me off with a warning, then proceeded to check tyres, bulbs, washer fluid!, etc. needless to say I was not impressed.

After about 5 minutes of p*ssing about he let me go, so got in the car 3.0 V6 Omega floored it, went off like a rocket, by the time he'd got back in his crappy little Ford Focus and caught up with me, I was doing 66mph on cruise control, he followed me for about 10 miles before getting bored lol

I know they've got a job to do, but ffs pull people who are breaking the law (I know, 71 on a motorway is illegal but ...)

Anyway rant over, still p*sses me off when I remember the incident

I am aware also of a 530d in Silver on a 57 plate a navy metallic 530i on an 57 plate so possibly the new Black 535d is their sucessor so will keep an eye open.

I have heard tale of 330d's as well unmarked, colour unknown as yet.

71mph, by what measurement! (although it depends on what the speed limit was)
    Equally, only one officer?
Also, the officer was very unlikely to swap vehicles, more likely two different crews (Omegas at the time were typically traffic and the Focus was never on the fleet at that same time, so was probably a Rover 200)
Sounds more like the witnessing officer was more concerned about the vehicle and/or manner of driving and wanted a closer "sniff" or look

Once a vehicle is on the public highway the police pretty much have any power they want; look, stop, inspect

If an officer stopped me for 71mph and I'd give them an ear full...
I've even been stopped for 80mph, and the officer has told me to be on my way; didn't even undo my seatbelt
