Will the new style folding remote key fob which is standard on the new Astra and Vectra work on an older (2005) Vectra 1.9 CDTi SRi??
I'm getting tired of making holes in my pockets where the key jabs into my leg.

You can order a new key from your dealer. They just need your key number and you'll get a new key in the folding style as that's the only new keys Vx are doing these days. The old style you have has now gone.
Key should cost you about £35+VAT and programming about £15+VAt - so around £60 all in.

I've been told by someone that they transmit differently therefore it might not work but then another source says it should work fine??
I don't want to spend around £60 to be told that its not compatible.
No, it will definitely work.
If you go to your dealer and ask for a replacement key, they'll want your key code from your Car Pass. Then, depending on availability, you'll get a new flippy key.
Mine took a day to come!, other guys have had to wait a bit longer. But you can definitely get a flippy key for a pre-facelift Vec C or Signum - it's the only type of key they are now supplying.
You'll even get the three buttons on the flippy key (lock, unlock and boot key).
There are a few threads on flippy keys - have a search for 'flippy key' or 'flip key'.

I too, also have an (older) 2005 SRi petrol engine, not a diesel with 2 keys both from the Vauxhall dealer - I got the original key with the car (not a flip-key) and the spare was still on order, I was told the next day it was in and they would post it to me - but the garage was on the way, so I went back to the dealer to pick up the newly ordered key and WOW! the spare was a flip-key, immediately swapped them over when I got home and the flip-key is now the main key - Works a treat and I remember the dealer say that all new keys which are cut from now (about 2 months ago) are all the new flip-key style as the older type are made anymore...
And yes it has the boot button as well

I'm still waiting for mine!
Been on order since the end of April and still no sign, although I got a call the other day from my dealer to tell me as it's been such a long wait for the key they are going to do it for free as a goodwill gesture.
Well pleased with that, and I didn't even ask!
Reg Vardy I salute you.
You're joking!!! (Obviously not!) That's flippin' ridiculous - given that I ordered mine one day and it arrived the next! They surely must come from the same central supply?Originally Posted by BasilGood on them! Is that the key and programming i.e. the whole caboodle?Originally Posted by Basil

Yep the whole shabang Duncan, pretty impressed with it as like I said I never even complained or anything about the wait. I just mentioned it to the service manager when I was chatting to her the other week and the next thing I know she phoned my missus last week to tell me the good news.
You can probably imagine how impressed I am.

3 day turn around....
Go and get one mate. I have a '04 plate and I got my flippy key about a month back. As Duncan says, THE ONLY key it is possible to get from Vx now is the flippy type (folding, if you like). So it would be a bit daft if they didn't work.
