Default air con not going cold

Looking for some advice. My 56 reg Vauxhall Vectra 1.9 diesel air con is not working. I turn it on and the indicator light goes yellow/amber, however, it does not go cold. Do I need a re-gas or is it more serious.

Re gass or you may have a leak. only one way to find out.
Take it to quikfit as it is only £25 to get it charged and if you have a leak and they cant do it they dont charge you.

Assuming you used the aircon reasonably regularly before this point, the best bet is that the condenser has taken damage and the refridgerant gas has leaked.
You could take it for a 'no cold, no charge' regas... it may work.... it may also be lousy again a couple of weeks later.
If it were me I'd change the condenser and receiver/drier and then get it checked/regassed. Condenser with R?D is commonly between £100 and £130 from a generic supplier.... you labour is free and the check/regass is £25-£40 offers depending.

Personaly i would pay £25 to see if it has a leak before i changed anything. Nothing worse than throwing over £100 away.
I wouldnt change my engine if it was not working propperly, I would get it checked first.

My local kwik fit said 49 pounds not 25 pounds. Where is this offer?

Bournemouth. A bit far for you mate. I thought it was nationwide. Shop around. You should be able to get it done cheaper than that.

It was on offer at all of them but the offer has ended. TBH i'd go to Kwik-fit first as the computer they have does all of the work. An un-trained monkey could use it (just as well lol)

I have the same problem at the minute and I think its down to lack of use as I hardly used it really as it causes the car to burn more fuel and at current prices I tend to just open the window.
I have booked the car into MPG at Middlewich for a regas and its costing £45 and I am only having it done because we are going away in the car and the dog is coming so my best mate must stay cool
