    Default Upgrading my CD30

hi all, after owning my 58 plate sri since jan, have done a few mods on car but no ICE yet (usually my first port of call in a new car) as i dont wanna screw with canbus. After looking at pics and reading into everything on here, i would like to upgrade my mono display (BID i think) and maybe drop a DVD player/sat nav/or just mp3 compatability once screen upgraded. But money does come into it as with everyone, does anyone have advice on changine all this? can i replace screen first? will new display be supported? not too concerned about dab but would be nice!

Right there are quite a few threads about upgrading.

For value for money, I would recommend one of those china-import head-units.

    IF Staying with OEM equipment.

If you want DAB, then you need the full set-up of

CDC40 Opera H/U + GID Screen + DAB Box + DAB Aerial + all link cables and aerials.

For super simple, get all three items from the same vehicle in a married state.
Tech 2 will then not be required.

If you want a basic sat nav, then you would need

CD70 Navi + GID screen (symbols only) or better still CID screen (with maps) + Video lead if CID + a sat nav aerial

Again, if you get a married head-unit and screen, then it is virtually plug and play.
    And no tech 2.

If you fit anything "divorced", then you will need to pay for Tech 2 programming...unless you know someone with Tech 2

    Final option is: -
Fit any screen you like - doesn't matter if it is married or not, and then fit an aftermarket headunit

    You will need: -
Screen + Headunit + ISO2CAR or SOT adapter cable + steering wheel controls adapter cable.

If the screen is divorced, then you will still need it Tech 2 programming in.

    Hope that helps,
    Rob.

No problems, always willing to help.

Now then looking at your opening comments, to explain your screens,

If you have clock buttons on the screen bezel, then you have the basic Triple Info Display (TID)

You say it is a mono screen (orange and black), then if it doesn't have buttons, it will more than likely be a Graphic Info Display (GID)

A BID (Board Info display) is a half-way house between TID and GID....but iirc BID's were only fitted to half can vehicles (before October 2004)
