    Default Custom Exhaust

    Hi All,

New to the site (but been been browsing for a few weeks).

I’m planning to get a custom stainless steel exhaust fitted (approx. £350) in a few weeks time and my question relates to the centre box.

Does anyone have any experience of systems (for a GSi) with and without a centre box?

My main concern is that I don’t want to rattle the neighbours windows if I drive up the street.

    Cheers

What company are you using mate? PIMM has a GSi and got a full cat back stainless system from Longlife, looks fantastic and has the 'mid sport' tone (you get a choice of sound) it's not too loud but sounds friggin mental, click this link and have a listen:

    Hi and welcome Swatty...

as 'young' neil said....Having heard Pimm's GSi, that is the setup you need..a nice burble at idle and a bark up to 2000 rpm, but still quiet on the motorway...

so impressed, i'm planning one myself..

I believe Longlife franchisees can probably build a custom exhaust for just about anything. The 1.8 should be no trouble at all i'd have thought. Ask for the 'mid sport' tone and it should end up sounding pretty damn horny

Think the nearest one to you would be in Leeds, have a look here:

I’m going to try the guys at the address below.

    http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk

I would like to try and get it locally, just in case there are any problems or it needs tweaking.

Will use the lingo 'mid sport tone’ (thanks Spikey) and let you know how it goes

    Thanks for your help

I got a quote from this company a couple of months ago m8

price given was £320 for a cat back system with duplex pipes (or whatever you call it)

seemed like a very good price, that included vat and fitting

previous experince from longlife/powerflow has been poor for quality of workmanship, quality of metal and service afterwards IMHO.

another cheerful post by Poah, our resident victor Meldrew

to be honest, the same has been said about Powerflow but as they are all franchises, worksmanship is down to individual places. Ive had a top quality job at one place (tyrespot, Newcastle) and a 'thrown together' one at another (Topgear, Doncaster).

Worth noting that most use non stainless joints and weld so the joints can rot. Also they dont all use 304 grade steel which is better quality. Have a search on Yell.com as i found a few local independent places that made exhausts that were as cheap (still £350+ though) but used 304 steel and stainless throughout.
