    Default Brake pad life

What would be a decent life span of brake pads my car is on the original GM pads and they are about 3/4mm left with 19K miles done, is this about right?

Depends on how much they are used. Everyone drives differently.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    15 months / 19K miles
Seems quite fair if those are the front and rear pads
You can make them last up to 2 years / 30K miles on a 1.8, and as little as 6 months / 10K miles on a automatic
The Corsa we have goes through front pads every 5K miles

I normally replace discs at every second brake pad change, but my warranty didn't pay for the discs unless the dealership put in the report
I managed to get three sets of front pads to each set of discs, but the rears would only manage two
Once the first set of rear pads and discs were changed the replacements lasted much longer, and that has been the same on every Vectra I have owned

Rears still have about 4mm the fronts are 2>3mm so seems reasonable to me then. Time to seek out new ones

Front discs and pads changed at 40k, rear discs and pads at 45k. Used the dealer service kit both times. Everything needed changing again at 84k recently. Car is a 2.0T.

Had my V6 CDTI (auto) serviced at 46K miles - 6 years old and still on original pads and discs. Was told there was still 25% left on all pads, so left it alone. Anyone beat that?

I changed them out today pads only, discs will get done at next time, one pad the n/s outer had about 2.5mm the others 4mm they were the originals.

I fitted a decent quality replacement set and bed them in with copper grease, cleaned the sliders etc,
Finally repainted the minor damage to the spring clip and such and had a wee drive to bed them.

All's good so far and the next stage will be to clean down and paint the wishbones and rear susp' arms.
