I would use an SOTor ISO2CAR cable to convert your wiring to fit an aftermarket head-unit.
For the ignition live, most people take a feed from the black terminal of the ciggy lighter.
The cable that you mention is for getting the steering wheel radio controls to work your display and your aftermarket head unit.
The CAN interface is not really necessary and will be quite expensive.
For your steering wheel controls, ensure you get the correct one, as they are manufacturer specific....JVC, Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood etc.
To do it properly therefore, you will need the SOT / ISOCAR loom and the steering wheel adapter loom.
I am trying to keep the key in ignition function for powering system, this way i can use stereo without having the ignition turned on and it turns off when i take keys out just like factory unit.
Which CAn-Bus adapter do i need to get for ignition live without engine running or key in position 2?
Bump for some help.
I am sorry to say, that you are in an area, where most mortals fear to tread.
There are some good forums in Germany and Holland that do a lot of modification work, but I don't recall seeing anything on them either.
May be a job, where you take the mantle, and show us the way forward.
Sorry that I could not be of any help...best thing to do is speak to companies who produce the can interfaces, like F K Murphy, or CanM8 etc.
I got my canbus module today SPAL Automotice ICB-3, this will give me an ignition live when key is inserted into ignition (KEY PRESENCE) , I just need to know one thing, how easy is it to get to the 102 pin connector behind striker panel? I need to connect the CAN HIGH line to this point.
