I decided to give this modification a go to see how it looks.
Firstly, this is what you need. 2 x Corsa VXR side repeater surrounds. Part Number 13250944 and should cost you no more than about £15 each.
Time Taken - Approx 20 minutes when taking your time.
Moving now to the car, here is what we start with.
Get a simple kitchen knive for this job. Push against the right hand side of the indicator and it will pop out. DO NOT try to use the knife to push between the indicator and bodywork, this is where you WILL scratch the paint.
A gentle push to the left releases the light unit.
Once removed.
Then remove you badge and clean the surrounding area. I used Meguiars general purpose cleaner.
As the Insignia has a curve to the front wing, it is best to put a slight curve into the indicator surrounds. This was done by gently heating the panel over the hob, then using a rolling pin, very gently roll it back and forth and you will put a slight curve on the panel.
Once done, you can them fit to the car. There are two little lugs inside the VXR surrounds which locate on the bottom edge of the Insignia's front wings.
Simply line up and stick them on. Once on you can then re-connect the side repeaters and clip them into the VXR panel.
Job Done.
You will find that they do actually point slightly down. I was a little concerned about this, but it actually follows the swage line of the side of the car.
I did try them on in a level position but it looked really bad and not in line with the car.
So I am pleased with the result, just got to decide whether to have the SE badges back on or leave it clean.
Opinions and comments as always are appreciated.
