    Exclamation water methanol injection questions

    hi all i am looking into the above and know that nutron had it fitted and also another guy on here with a washer bottle and fuel pump as a diy job but if i do it i want it properly with the 150psi pump etc i have seen kits on devils own website for 220 quid for the full kit bottle and everything

    the problem i have is where would i fit the nozzle spray into as i have the rubber boost hose or the round plastic intercooler hose and how would i get it in to the hose and seal it etc also has any one fitted it and how easy would it be also where do you buy methanol from???

    and final question how much bhp and torque would i get extra with using this plus my mods in my signature???

    The nozzle would go as close to the inlet as possible. I'm sure there's adapters to allow them to be fitted into rubber hoses.

    The Nozzle should go as far from the inlet as possible but after the intercooler. this is to allow the water/methanol is evapourate into the air as much as possibile before it enters the cylinder, achiving peek cooling effect.

    I would recommend Aquamist because they are UK based, they also do smaller electromagnetic race pumps but I doubt you'll want them. Below is a link to their site and some pics of my injection point.

    You'd be looking at alot more than 200 quid for a setup worth having. I'd recommend :

    1) HP pump (industrial pump will be fine)
    2) 4mm hose with push fit connectors
    3) a solenoid
    4) A 3D controller using pressure and RPM (like mine)
    5) An inection nozzel (0.7mm or 1mm if you only have one)
    6) an inline filter before the pump
    7) a resevoir and 6mm pipe lines to feed the pump.

    the pump/kit you have in mind is 220 quid without a tank and is controlled by an on/off pressure switch only. It's a very basic system and really only any good for reducing EGR temps at high boost levels. If you have a remap or tuning box and want to run just water in to keep temps down it will be okay but for adding alcohol for extra power, it's not a good buy.

    As for the piece on the club site, it's rubbish. You aren't injecting steam, only water/methanol vapour, so where did he get steam clean from?

    You can see the same power gains with more torque than a tuning box but! You have to run 70% methanol which does not show any significant reduction in exhaust gas temps over diesel tuning, you have to pay for the extra methanol you burn and You'll get through it at a rapid rate (about 1ltr a minute). The graphs there show only about a 15% increase in power and it's laughable that low down increase they are trying to show; peek torque would not be achived below 1500rpm if it usually peeks at 2200, it will peak at peek air pressure.

    As for reducing smoke, it can do with 100% water but again you won't see power gains, quite the opposite (I've tried). The water delays ignition and without the faster burn rate of ethanol or methanol, water just throws off the timing.

    that piece was writen by a water/methanol injection systems salesman, so unsurprisingly it's got alot of massively over blown claims. I run 50:50% water to methanol now and get gains ontop of the tuning box because of the extra cylinder pressure. I've run it on the rollers with 70% methanol and got 30lbft more torque than a tuning box with the same bhp.

    I see not really affordable for the power gains really then oh well

    So nutron I know your very knowledgeable so what if I went for nitrous oxide injection how much would a very basic setup be and what power gains would I get. Also nutron how much did your water methanol setup cost and where from.

    Also I heard you have nitrous too where did you get that from and how much

    basically I want more power and torque on a budget but also want reliability as it's a family car too thanks hope you can help mate
