Default REMAP CDTI 150-Recommend me someone in BIRMINGHAM & Tell me more!

    Hello folks,

Following on from the ongoing issues with the CDTI 150 and the dead spot under 1.8k rpm, I have temporily sorted this by disconnecting the EGR Valve, but the EML is on and it may cause other faults somewhere.

So, I was chatting to a bloke yesterday from 888/VX Racing and he has told me to simply get it re-map'ed and that should sort it.

So, can someone recommend me a good but sensibly priced place in Birmingham somewhere who will do this for me?

Also, what am I looking at paying?

Lastly, those that have had it done, what were your reasons for having it done/symptom's and what benefit have you seen? Also, are there any longer term consequences on any other components of the car's running gear/electrics? Do I need to inform the insurance?

    Thanks.

    Bye bye Vec B

A remap is not a good idea at all if a car may have underlying issues such as an active EML, which granted may be trivial.

My reason for having had a remap is more power and torque and improved driveability. Admittedly I assumed that such a remap would be 'safe' in that it would not over-stress the engine and drivetrain beyond the known safe limits of the engine.

unless (in your case) the EGR operation is being removed.

...and (at present) only the EDS maps (about £450-£500) can remove the EGR operation, so you "may" find with other remaps you will still have the low power issues, just a bigger bang over 2K revs.

    Hi,
Was a thread on here a couple of days ago about a mobile company, based in Birmingham who come to you to do the remap, unfortunately can't remember who the company was, but the guy was very impressed with the motor afterwards.

Here you go, found it http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106340

sounds like he remaps going on whats already been done to other 150's?, i would have thought every engine would be slightly different and a rolling road would be a much better bet ?, my own 150 goes realy well as standard and will rev 'well' into the red if wanted and is untouched from new, so it would be different to some that would not behave as such.

I'm in the Birmingham area and I went to MPG in Middlewich for my EDS remap. Part of the reason for going for that particular remap was the EGR disabling part. There weren't any underlying problems associated with the car, but I had just had the inlet manifold replaced and wanted to keep everything unspoilt. Main reason was for the power.

I wrote a review of the remap process, the link is in my sig. Give Ian at MPG (Clicky) a ring on 01606 834598, he's very knowledgeable on these engines and very helpful.
