Caught my interest when you posted this, so I looked at it a bit harder. Then went through the guys feedback and comments for this product like "Be aware, doesn't come with instructions OR chuck key" and "Very low power at low RPM" and a few others changed my mind. Think I'll pay a bit more for a better one at some point

Nowt wrong with a rotary mate, had some awesome results with one, not that tricky to learn with either - I would say its easier to start with a rotary than it would be to go from a DA to a rotary.

Nothing to worry about with using a polisher of any kind. You'll be hard pushed to do any long term damage with one.

The first machine polisher I bought was a rotary, and I read about all the warnings about 'burning through your laquer'.

I'm still using it now and have had some fantastic results on lots of cars, and haven't even been close to damaging any paint.

As long as you don't run the machine too fast, take your time over the panel and keep the pad well primed you won't have any problems.

Whatever rotary you decide to get, in my opinion the most important things to consider are the quality of the pads and polish. These are the things that will determine the final finish.

The difference in quality between the pads that came in my 'kit' and the 3M ones I use now are like chalk and cheese.

With polishes, i love the Poorboys SSR range for swirl removal, and Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

So whatever you decide to do, my advice would be to buy the best quality pads/polish/wax you can afford.
