    confused 2.2 vs z20net

i've been told by many sources that the z20net is just a destroked 2.2 with a turbo bolted on. if this is true howcome the z20net doesnt have the same timing chain problems the 2.2 does??

The z20net uses a different chain tensioner.

I've recently had chain problems with my 2.2 direct and Vauxhall are now fitting the tensioner from the 2.0 turbo to any engines where the tensioner sticks or fails.

Its just a different crank to give a different capacity.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Just be careful though, my old 2.0t had to have the tensioner changed as it was sticking. Made a loud metallic knocking noise when cold but stopped once warm. The other problem was the oil jet that squirts oil onto the chain can become blocked.

I think the lubrication was improved - bigger oil jets - on the 2.0T- and on the 2.2 direct (or something like that).

It was supposed to be changed on the last 2.2 Vec B's but very early Vec C's have been found to have the smalled oil jet. All Vec C's are supposed to have the larger jet no mater what engine code. Must have been a few old lumps knocking about when they first launched the C?

i was just curious as there seems to be loads of complaints about the chains on the 2.2 and not read any for the 2.0t
