Did I get a bargain?????

Well had to have a bit of work done to my car:

Swirl Flaps (new manifold) plus the motor that turns the flaps
Cambelt Change
Waterpump change

for a grand total of £750

The Stealers wanted nearly £1000 just to replace the manifold

Expensive (I'm sure someone will come and tell you that you could have done it yourself for £140), but it sounds pretty reasonable. I paid £820 for a new manifold, actuator and EGR (which was £130). Have you got connections to Romford? That's a long way from Northampton!

New manifold - 150
Cambelt Change - 100
Waterpump change - 30

It would cost me less than 300 and take a day working on the car in the nice warm sun.

New manifold from VX cost £387 plus vat at trade club prices. New one from Vauxcentre £167 plus VAT

I travel all over the South East so dropping into Romford is no problem plus I have a very good friend there and to be honest he is the only one I trust with my car.

Many years ago I would have done this myself but the pressure I have of running my own business prevents me from doing everything I want

I got charged 6 hours labour so I think thats fair then based on your day in the sun

Did they actually carry out the work for you? If so this could be very handy for the future, as I only live about 10 miles from Romford.

Yes they cover all Vauxhalls and are far better than the local dealers. In fact the Dealers go to them when they have an issue they cannot solve

imho you got it sorted out by a place you trust and it was cheaper than a dealer so if you ask yourself are you happy then i think the answer will be yes....
