    Default Inner CV Boot

    Hi All,

Had to change a wheel on my 2.0T signum, and noticed that the inner CV Boot (Drivers Side) has split

I have got a genuine VX one on order and it will be with me Thursday. My question is, how much of a pain are these to fit?
Do I just drop the hub/disc and then just pull the drive-shaft out and then fit the new boot and fill with grease etc. (and change the split ring etc).

All help will be great, thanks

basically thats all you have to do, I had my OSF inner CV joint changed a just a few weeks back, i paid a guy to do though as he was already going to be changing my DMF, clutch and NSF wishbone in the same booking.. I was there for part of the job being done and he was swearing his head off at the joint not coming off has some idiot who previously owned the car had spot welded the ****** onto the shaft.. Apart from that it did not look to hard and a job I would be tempted to do myself in the future..

    Further to replacing this......

Spoke to one dealer and was quoted about £28 inc VAT for a CV Boot, thought bit dear, so phoned another dealer and was quoted just under £15 including VAT, so ordered one.

Well the dealer phoned me today to say it was in, but the part number had changed and so had the price - £25 inc. - I was not best chuffed!

I asked why, and they said they didnt know!!!!!! Great. The guy I spoke to, was quite ok when I said that I wasnt happy and what were they going to do about it.... and was told nothing, that's the price. So they have now been left with a CV boot that they dont want!

I am not going to be held to ransom coz VX decide to change the part number and price because they can. Are they going to start doing that if you order a new motor??

So tomorrow I will be ordering a non-genuine one from a local motor factors and they will deliver it too - not like the local dealer who I would have to go and collect from.

Sorry to go on, but rant over

I had mine done at the dealers think it was £90 all in iirc but they tld me its very strange for the inner to go that's why they don't stock them plus they have redesigned the CV boots they are like a hard plastic now instead of rubber
