Default cdti 150 auto - 3rd to 4th - what speed should it change

    Hi
I have an 08 Vectra-C cdti 150 with AF40 6-speed auto box. Its going in for service tomorrow and I believe the car hangs on to 3rd gear for too long.

It won't change to 4th until it reaches 42mph and the revs hit 2100rpm. When driving in 40mph limits its always in 3rd gear and the engine sounds too fast. I had a Vectra-c 2.2 petrol with 5 speed auto and that always changed up and was very smooth.

I had it in at the dealers while ago and they said no faults showed up. but I only have 1 year left under warranty so i need to get it sorted before its up.

I should say this is when driving with gentle throttle, I know if you floor it it will hang on to the gears.

If anyone has one could you tell me what speed you go from 3rd to 4th at.

    Thanks

    keith

I've got a 55 plate 1.9 (150) auto and mine does exactly the same - really annoying driving around in 3rd. I always change up manually

I had this problem with my previous car(c4)and dealers tried all sorts of things to sort it including remap of gearbox software twice and changing internal mechanicals at a cost of a grand.
Nothing worked and was reason i changed to the vec.
Sorry i have no suggestions for you.

I have a manual cdti 150 and in town I always drive in 3rd gear. at 40 mph the revs hit 2500 which I don't think is overreved. It should stay between 2000 and 3000 revs anyway.

Pretty sure my 3.0 V6 runs around between 1100 and 2000 about town, with a 5 speed auto. I remember doing 40mph the other day and it was sat at about 1200.

I know its a completely different setup, but they got it working on mine and its a 5 yr old motor.

Press the wee frost button and it'll stay in 4th.

That means it will stay in 4th when pulling away so not to wheelspin in ice/snow, not staying in 4th when driving..
