Got a bit of a problem

As you know when I tried to wire the earth lead of my Snooper into the brown/yellow wire the outside lights came on everytime I switched the ignition on. I put it back how it was and all was ok.

I've been out tonight to try to tidy my wiring up by using a crimped connection on the brown/yellow but after I'd done this the lights once again came on on turning on the ignition. Put it back how it was with a block connector but still the light came on. Tried disconnecting the battery to fool the canbus as was suggested before but still no joy.

The wiring is simply back how it was before.

What is going on? How can I sort this out? Help...please.

That doesn't sound good m8, I hope you haven't, but it sounds like you might have fried something canbus to me !!!

It could be down to the electronics. How long did you disconnect the battery for? Try leaving a long time to let all the electricity still in the circuits to dispurse.
Try lesting the wires with a multi-meter to check check the positive and negatives are correct.

You may have overloaded it when you connected it and now it gets a constant live instead of being switchable.
Connect it up to how it was before and test the wire with a multi meter with ignition on, and then again with lights on. You should have different readings. If nothing changes, then its definatly the connections.
So either you've fried something, or you have missed something and something is connected somewhere it shouldn't be.
Check connections, and try again?

If your not having any luck doing it that way then why not just wire it to the cig lighter. Quick and easy and no canbus to worry about.

The brown wire isn't earth from memory. Think that is a live of some sort as I almost made the same mistake....

The only thing that I have changed tonight is to take the block connector off the brown and yellow striped wire (where I cut it) and joined it with a crimped connector (note not the plain brown wire). After that, I took the crimped connector of and put it back with a block (thinking that maybe I hadn't made a good enough connection) but even with the block it's still the same. How can doing that fry anything. Battery diconnection was about 5-10 minutes.

PS - not worried about the Snooper connections anymore. Just want to get the car back to how it should be before I started messing.

You made it sound like you had connected an earth wire to a canbus wire ?
IF that is what you have done, you could very well fry something (mainly a canbus module I expect) because the canbus wires are mostly nothing more than signal wires and they, and more importantly, what is at the end of them, are not designed to have 12V load put through them. (regardless of weather that load is positive or negative)

However, you may be lucky, you now sound like you have doubts about your re-connection. It is true that if the light switch is not connected, the lights come on anyway, so make sure every wire is securely connected and that the plug on the switch is locked all the way in.

Just checked it out the Brown Yellow wire leads up to the front headlamps, so it looks like the power is passing through your snooper and powering up the front lamps!

Back lights come on as well + instrument lights.

The Snooper is not connected into any of this now and hasn't been for several days.

As I said all I did tonight (and it had been ok prior to this) was take the block connector off that was joining my brown and yellow striped wire (where I'd stupidly cut it) and re joined it with a crimped connector. Since then I've had this problem even after going back to the block connector for the join.

So is the brown and yellow wire nothing to do with the canbus then?

According to TIS the Brown Yellow wire leaves the switch goes through connection X1 up and through to connection X26 (which are plugs i assume) and then off to the Xenons. its a 0.35mm wire which should be thinner than the black one which you picked your power up from which is 0.5mm which comes from a 10A fuse by the looks of it. But TIS is hard to read/understand because you cant power xenons off a 0.35mm wire!!

Does yours have normal lighting? cause the wiring differs for each, rechecked it looks like its for headlamp levelling
