    Default Is it worth it?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, but I've seen on Ebay a CD30 MP3 for sale, very cheap. Couple of quid plus a tenner postage. It says it will be "taught" to my car once fitted.

Problem I've got, is that it's very very cheap. And from Austria. Will all the information on the display be Austrian?

Would like one of these, but don't want to waste £12 on it. I know it sounds tight, but I'd rather spend it on something that will work. I'd also like to upgrade from TID to GID, and BC. Would this radio support it?

you would need to get it tech 2'd into the car - so a trip to the stealers - it wont learn itself and it needs to have been "unmarried" from the initial car - otherwise it would cost more money to sort out

That was a fear I had to be honest. No point paying around £15 for something that may cost £50 to sort out. Will keep my eyes peeled for one that's got code, and been properly taken out of the vehicle. Or maybe look at aftermarket, but still retain the steering controls.

    Thanks

it'll still need to be programmed to your own car regardless. if you can get one that's been divorced from the orig car then it's an easier job. if you can find a dealer capable of that you're looking about 80 notes to get it working. if it hasn't been divorced you'll be looking at another 40-50 quid to get it freed up and that's something the dealer won't be able to do but there's plenty of folks about who can.

so it might not be a very cheap mod at all!!

If you are getting ONLY the head-unit and it is still pair up in it's original car, then yes you will need to get it divorced with the previous car's audio pass code, or alternatively seek one of these companies that will return it to delivery state for a not-too-little amount of cash.

If you get the Screen AND Headunit from the same vehicle, then as these are paired to each other, they will work.
Only problem is, without their original audio pass code, you will not be able to do some of the high end Code index changing etc...but you will be able to change the variance coding.

I had this with my first CD70...this was paired to a GID in a previous car, that got crushed before the screen and h/u were divorced.
Still worked in our car, however there were a few issues with "popping" noises from the speakers for the first five minutes after switching off the radio / ignition.
