    Default Auto Shift warning light

Hello, I have just bought an 06 plate vectra 2.2 auto. When the car is stationary and the shift in either P or N a little red light comes on between the P and R position and goes off if I press the brake pedal. Is this just a status indicator or is it a warning? I am not clear from reading the handbook.
    regards,

It's a indicator that tell you to applay the brake pedal to be able to move the shifter, nothing wrong.
You will notice that you can't move the shifter from P N and R without the foot on the brake.

My dad has an 06 1.8 Astra auto. You only need to apply the foot brake to take it out of park, unlike the Vectra-C where you need to put your foot on the brake to move the lever out of N as well.

Can be annoying at times, so I just leave it in D at the lights with my foot on the brake annoying cars behind me with my LED brake light.

Same here, surprised no one has fitted a timer to high level brake lights yet, to switch them off after say 10 seconds of being on, mmmmmmm might patent the idea lol
