    Default What a grandparent dreads

It has been on the cards for a while ever since my divorced daughter met a new fella, she has been spending just about every week end with him at his house which is in Kent, she has now told us that she is moving in with him, which I am pleased about as every one deserves some happyness, the down side is that we will not see the grandaughter as much as we have,my wife and I collect her from school 4 times a week, maybe we have been spoilt up untill now it is going to get a lot of getting use to, going to set up a web cam so we can chat to her and so she can see our dog who she dotes on,
When the school term finishes in july and she has her normal birthday [9 this year]barbeque at our house they will move so she starts her new school on september.

Would they maybe consider letting her stay at yours to stay at the same school...? Better continuity for her which you need at that age...

Kent would be a nice place to spend a retirement? have you thought of moving with her too?

Until she breaks up with him too and moves elsewhere... You can't really follow her round the country...

    Two other grandchildren to consider,
It is not as if she is out of the country or hundreds of miles away, there is another even bigger hurdle to get over yet she has to tell the ex !,who does not put himself out at all.
Which ever way life will still go on I reckon I will have to get myself a Dartford crossing dart tag !

Ahh good idea - got her head screwed on then. And to be fair, you've got a nice car to do the journey in...

Myself and my 2 siblings grew up with our closest realtives living 200 miles away, and the rest of them living 700 miles away in the south of England. We considered it lucky to get to see our grandparents twice a year, once was the norm. Made the visits even more special though and something you always looked forward to, despite the twelve hours cooped up in the back seat of the car - which was a Mk3 Astra estate...

Things like this really bloomin wind me up lol , it makes me realize just how unfortunate a situation I'm in !!
But in my case it's the other way around , my 2 kids have both sets of grandparents living within 5 miles of us , and they hardly ever see any of them , maybe once a month the mrs mum might bump into them when out shopping , or the mrs will go and visit , but that's it .
I just can't understand how people just cba with their grandkids , and others adore them !!
Between me and the mrs we must have the worst parents going.

better than having the worst ex-wife of my brother. c0w turned my niece & nephew against their grandparents (my parents) and their dad (my brother) for no good reason. my parents bent over backwards to help my brother & his ex-wife & their kids, now they dont see them & havent done so for a few years, all thanks to the selfish b!tch!

kents not that far from essex, my family moved to kent to be nearer my grandparents & they were only about an hours drive away, all depends which part of the counties youre both in though.

Feel sorry for your kids and you, cannot understand grandparents being like that to me[and my missus] having grandchildren is the best thing in the world and it is not because you can hand them back.I am now looking forward to taking a motor racing mad 5 year old grandson to the British Grand Prix in july.
