    confused Clutch slip

    Hi all think my clutch is starting to slip was booting it in second gear and engine seemed to rev slightly but lost power at about 3000 rpm as my previous post my dmf is also in for repair on wed, how can i test my clutch for slipping.

    5th gear at 20mph and then foot to floor!! see what happens

    u can get 10,000miles on a slipping clutch if u drive nicely

    ok car should slowly speed up if clutch ok , but needle will red line and engine rev as if in neutral if its fubard.

    heres a good test. whack your handbrake on really hard, put the car into first gear, and lift up clutch. the car should stall. if not, then im afraid u have a fooked clutch. gona cost ya around the £350 mark. mite aswell get it fixed while repairing the dmf mate. hth.

    ok tested car this morning driving at 25 mph put her into 5th and accelerated, the car didn't red line or over rev and it slowly built up speed, take it my clutch is ok.

    Try the handbrake idea. Put the handbrake in firmly. try to start off in 1st gently the rear of the car should "sink" and the car not move too much.

    Think for piece of mind you should pay for the clutch kit aswell on wednesday for your own piece of mind

    How much would you want to slap yourself if the clutch started badly slipping a month or 2 after the gearbox has already been out

    depends how much it will cost, are you sure at the stealers it will only cost 150-200 sterling. It's arnold shark.
