    Default Egr removal

Been having the usual problems with very poor accelaration from stand still very evident at junctions by having to carry extra pants to change into! Once the turbo spooled up it takes off.
looking at it, reading other threads and having done the usual mods and replacement parts as i understand the egr valve bleeds exhaust gas from the turbo which in my reckoning will reduce or slow down the time the turbo needs to spool up,and delaying full boost, so i disconnected the egr via the electrical plug to see what happens, firstly the spanner light comes on and eventually the EML light comes on but the car flies, accelatration is fantastic and no need for extra pants at junctions. On these findings i want to remove the egr completly and just make some ali blanking plates to block the holes.
After that long winded decription what i'm asking is how does the car know that its not working is it via resitance through the valve electrical circuit in which cas can you fool it by a resitor? or is it a sensor elsewhere or can vx switch it off via tech 2?

Thanks guys hope above reads right.

I always wondered if it was possible to fool the egr with resistor etc, also thought you could block the hole on the throttle body side and vent the egr pipe to atmosphere like a screamer pipe?

    hey Doug,

i believe there is a Fiat gasket available to semi blank the egr on the 150 engine. The egr valve bleeds air from the exhaust manifold via the egr cooler and the turbo supplies air through the intercooler up to the throttle body on the inlet manifold. As i understand it the egr and turbo are not connected in any way. There was a thread on here today that i just cant find right now, but it covered removing the throttle body and cleaning the gunk that accumalates inside the inlet manifold, where the egr attaches to the inlet manifold, which gave much improvement to the lower rev range.will continue to look for that post.

been ther done that.......disconnecting the dame thing is the only thing that has given me the power back. the fiat gaskets restrict but would really like to block and remove if poss.

Another thought i had was to block the pipes but keep the egr valve connected but tucked away in the engine bay somewhere so the car thinks that it is still there?
