    Default oil in coolant tank...signum 3.2 v6 manual

    Hi guys
    this morning i found a thick mars like sludge in my coolant tank,does anyone have any ideas,thought the oil cooler may have given up the ghost?

    Any water in the oil? Could be a head gasket too.

    there is no water at all in the oil,just the exspantion tak is full of mars like sludge

    The oil coolers are right down in the middle of the vee, they were prone to failure on the older V6's, not too sure on the newer ones.

    Sound like the oil cooler to me, The last 3.2s in the omegas are still failing so would suspect the cooler..

    Yeah this does sound just like the oil cooler, mine went i thought i had a coolant leak and it turned out the cooler was bust.

    I'd go for oil cooler first if not, head gasket(s).

    Could'nt tell you i was lucky it was covered under a warranty i got with the car, i think the labour charges are more than the cost of the part though.

    I remember at the time it happened someone mentioned on here its common on the v6's.

    EDIT: Just found my old post almost 2 years ago. The technical name the dealer gave it was the heat exchanger more commonly known as oil cooler. It would'nt have been cheap if i had to pay, the top end was stripped down to get the cooler out from the gap in the middle of the V.
