    Default aircon V fuel

sorry if this has been asked before but here goes. when using aircon how much extra fuel do you actually use? i do mainly town driving and tbh i dont notice a great deal of difference. maybe it is different for you boys zooming up and down the motorway? does the speed/higher revs make a difference? you hear loads of scare stories off people saying it uses loads more fuel but i have that not to be the case.

I read a while ago (not on here) that AC can affect your fuel by between 7 and 15% depending on the vehicle type, how efficient the system is and how well maintained the AC is. Dunno how accurate that figure is or how it applies to Vauxhalls. I reckon it costs me about 20-30 miles on a full tank.

If you have a diesel car, it shouldnt be that big of a difference,
the torque will (again) get you out of trouble.
300 NM wil have no problem of spinning the AC rotor.

I hardly notice any difference in mpg with my ac on.

It would be worth it even if I did.

Nothing beats driving the car & feeling that blast of cold air after a day sweating like a pig at work lol

what i have noticed though is it tends to be flatter between gear changes, you just have to give it some extra revs

The air con on newer cars shouldn't sap a lot of power, it's very efficient. It will lose a few miles off a few tank but not enough to render you bankrupt.

People always complain about air con sapping fuel, but what about driving around with all your windows down and sunroof open? My bet is that the extra drag is equal to, if not more than, running air con...
